Dr Danial Kelly

BA, LLB(Hons), GDLP, GDEd, MAL, LcCMTh, PhD

Danial is the Director of Amicus Institute. Qualified as a lawyer and teacher, Danial has taught in Australian and Indonesian universities and schools for more than 20 years. He is a partner in a legal practice based in Darwin and a consultancy based in Bali.

His primary teaching interests are developing approaches to enable students to learn well and his primary research interests are in the intersections between systems of authority. 

Danial is a native speaker of English, advanced in Indonesian and functional in Balinese.

John Logan

BEc, Dip Ed, DELTA

John is a highly talented and gifted teacher of languages (English and Indonesian) with experience at primary, secondary and tertiary institutions in Australia, Indonesia, China and Japan.  John has completed Cambridge University's specialist qualification of Diploma in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages which is an advanced blend of theory and practice professional development for experienced teachers.

Jenny McCulloch

BA, Dip Ed, LLB(Hons), MAL

Jen has worked in private legal practice, especially family law, and was a legal academic at Charles Darwin University for three years until recently.

She has lived in the Territory for 28 years and has been a secondary school teacher for 20 of those years.  

She is interested in the way language informs world view and vice versa. This also impacts the way we understand the law.  As a teacher, she has researched connections between learning language and the arts and is interested in materials that connect literacy and the law.

Asheesh A. Shawel

BCom, LLB, GDLP, GIA (Affiliated)

Asheesh is admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor in India and Australia. He is also a member of the Governance Institute of Australia, providing him with expertise of best practice governance, risk management and compliance in the accurate and effective execution of governance and risk management responsibilities. 

Asheesh is fluent in English and Hindi and has a working knowledge of Punjabi and Urdu.

Dr Richard Curtis

BA(Hons), PhD

Dr Curtis is an academic in the disciplines of sociology and linguistics. His focus is Indonesia and has published ground-breaking research on the literature of Wiji Thukul.


Geo George

BSc, MCApp | PRINCE 2 Practitioner | Certified SCRUM Master 

Geo has more than 15 years of IT Project Management, Application Delivery Management, Team Management and Software Development expertise in Insurance and Financial Services domains in Singapore and Australia.

As a certified PRINCE 2 Practitioner & SCRUM Master, he has managed the entire lifecycle of Application Delivery and Product Implementations for prominent Insurance giant AIA and supported technology transition, application integration and continuous improvement with off-shore and on-shore teams.
